"They're a complete waste of time," says Professor Wylie. "Pills and lotions have no proven benefit. If they were effective, they would be on sale at chemists. Using a lotion may help a man become more familiar with his penis, which some men shy away from. So lotions can help a man become more comfortable with his penis but they certainly won't make it any bigger."
Popping Pills. This is another method which should be given a mention since there are so many "penis pills" out there claiming size gains are possible by simply popping pills. These do actually have their place as there are effective herbs out there that will increase size, but once again it is only temporary. The other catch is that the size is most noticeable in the state of erection. That is the effective penis pills (and there are a lot of non-effective pills out there as well) will make your erections much harder and stronger. This results in even more blood being pumped up creating larger looking erection size as well as a much more "veiny" look.
The internet is packed with banner ads and pop-ups that advertise pills and lotions for male enhancement and enlarging the penis. They often contain herbs, hormones, minerals, and vitamins, but none of them have been proven to work . Some pills have been investigated by the FDA and found to have levels of prescription drugs like sildenafil (Viagra) in them, and the FDA notes that there’s a growing trend of dietary supplements that contain hidden chemicals and drugs .
“Operations are very safe,” says Viel, who founded the London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery with his twin brother Maurizio. “Perhaps 95% of our patients are very happy. Where they are not, it is often to do with expectations. Some men want 10 inches when nature gave them four or five. I have to say, gently, ‘This is not possible. I am not a miracle worker.’”
As the name implies, the traction method involves the phallus being placed in an extender and then stretched daily. One team of researchers quoted in the study reported average growth of 0.7 inches (flaccid) in participants who used the method for four to six hours each day over four months. Another team reported an average increase of nearly an inch (0.9 inches, flaccid) plus some slight improvement in girth after similar treatments lasting a course of six months.
Being fit and at a healthy weight has a lot to do with how a penis appears and performs (more on that soon) but it also has a lot to do with what we eat. For example, foods like onions are said to increase healthy blood flow and circulation — including to the penis! Salmon is known for this as well, and so are bananas (we’re trying not to make a pun here) and dark chocolate. Also, foods high in protein (say, like eggs or low Greek yogurt) and proper hydration can only work in your favor.
Surgery offers the only permanent solution for enlargement of the penis. Through surgery, the penis can be visually enlarged, usually by just over an inch. The surgeon will cut the ligaments that hold the penis in its usual position, allowing the penis to descend. Weights, or stretching devices, are then used for a few months to affect a permanent increase in size. The procedure may result in scar tissue, the erection will point down, and the base of the penis will be hairy.
William O’Connor, a 38-year-old mechanic from Northampton, is one of his satisfied customers – and it’s easy to understand why. Think of a large can of aerosol deodorant and you have, roughly enough, his new dimensions. “There was one woman who took one look at it and just went, ‘That thing is coming nowhere near me,’” he says. “But mostly it goes down very well. I’ve seen a lot of eyes light up.”
Penis enlargement, or male enhancement, is any technique aimed to increase the size of a human penis. Some methods aim to increase total length, others the shaft's girth, and yet others the glans size. Techniques include pills, hormones, massage, stretching, inflation, incision, injections, and implants. While some techniques are hoaxes, others may be somewhat effective, perhaps at high risk of complications.
Men dealing with erectile dysfunction (ED) have a higher risk of dealing with penile shrinkage. One study that included 1,027 adult men looked at normal adult men and ED patients with no differences in height, race, weight, and age. The ED patients have a significantly shorter penis length, showing an association between ED and shrinkage . Another case-control study also found that both diabetic and nondiabetic men with ED dealt with a decline in penile dimensions, and the decline was even more prevalent in diabetic patients . Working with your doctor to find an effective treatment for ED may help prevent shrinkage due to ED, and if you have comorbidities like diabetes along with ED, effectively managing both may be important to prevent a decline in penile dimensions.
The FastSize Extender device promises results, but it's far from quick and easy. Just ask Bob, a retail manager from New Jersey. He says he's gained over 2 inches of erect length. All it took was 25 months and over 2,600 hours wearing the device, typically five hours a day, seven days a week. "I was afraid my girlfriend would think I was a freak, but she was supportive because she felt a difference in her satisfaction and I felt more confident in myself," Bob tells WebMD.
Herbal remedies, Kegels (pelvic floor exercises — learn more here), and exercises have all been mentioned as potential ways to make your penis bigger. However, we’ve searched and searched for medical evidence that these techniques will work to grow your penis, but there’s simply zero, zilch, nada, no evidence. You may find lots of unverified anecdotes, which come from a sample size of one, but they simply cannot be trusted. After all, no one on the internet knows you’re a dog (or liar). We recommend that you avoid these techniques.
